Break Away Sports Center to sponsor food drive

Feb 26, 2011

Break Away Sports Center is organizing its first-ever food drive. The event will take place from March 7-17 and benefit Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin.

For most of us hunger is a TV scene of malnourished children in faraway countries. It does not seem real that there are over 143,000 people in Southern Wisconsin being served by the Second Harvest Foodbank.

Break Away Sports Center is very excited to organize our first Food Drive: The Champion’s League Challenge, March 7-17. Not only will this event get people involved and increase the food reserves available at Second Harvest Foodbank, but also raise awareness for their programs and the ultimate goal of ending hunger in Southern Wisconsin.

All Break Away Leagues have been assigned a barrel named after 1 of 6 Champion’s League teams (see below). The object is for players to bring in food items to fill their assigned barrel. Players and teams can compete against each other to donate the most food to benefit Second Harvest Foodbank. Don’t worry if you want to donate for a different team barrel than the one you are assigned – it’s all going for a great cause!
