A new partnership between Millennium and Regent Soccer Clubs has allowed 20 Millennium players to join Regent teams for the spring 2024 season.
This collaboration began in fall of 2023 in an effort to find new solutions to help more Madison area children and families access more organized soccer programming. Regent has supported Millennium over its 23 years of programming and deepening this connection is a result of shared values, as both clubs believe that all children should have the ability to play soccer in an appropriately challenging and safe environment.
When surveyed in fall of 2023, over 35 Millennium families shared an interest in participating in this pilot program. Originally, the goal was to place five to ten Millennium players on an existing Regent team. Both clubs worked to support families navigate new registration systems, as well as language and transportation barriers. Family members signed up to volunteer as coaches and team managers and it was clear that the program could be expanded.
By communicating between clubs and alongside families, twenty Millennium players were added to Regent teams. In doing so, not only were players added to existing teams, but new teams with players on Regent waitlists were able to be created. Ultimately, this partnership has led to more soccer for more children in the spring 2024 season, and beyond!
